Thanks to the recent offshore oil and gas discoveries, Suriname is on the threshold of a new phase in its development. The success of this development partly depends on the extent to which Suriname succeeds in getting its institutions ready to steer the development in the right direction. This process requires an intensive orientation on current megatrends. Starting in the period July- October 2022, FHR will make an immediate contribution to this process by incorporating in the curricula of its master’s programs, four megatrends currently framing global development. These megatrends are “the imperative of sustainability”; “defending the open society”; “introducing uniform accounting standards” and “gaining competitive advantage with strategic human resource management”. With this update, FHR’s master educational programs will be ‘state of the art’ and attuned to current needs of Surinamese society and its private and public enterprises.
